Puzzle games that actually help you wind down
There's a difference between a puzzle that challenges you and one that punishes you. For the end of the day, you want the first kind.
I look for games without timers, without lives, and without a leaderboard nagging you to do better. Just you and the problem, at whatever pace suits you.
Atmosphere helps enormously. A soft soundtrack and gentle visuals turn a puzzle into something closer to meditation. Hollow Lantern nails this even though it's more adventure than pure puzzle.
Keep brightness low, sound on, and pick something you can put down mid-level. The best wind-down games don't mind if you quit.
And obviously — offline. Nothing kills a calm evening like a reconnect spinner.
